Hello everyone, first post here! I just purchased a bike and am starting to pick up bikepacking bags.

I need to carry a work laptop rarely, but do not want to have a rack just for that purpose.

What bikepacking bags could hold a standard size laptop?

So far the only candidate I suspect could do it is the "Ortlieb Seat-Packer 16.5L" bag:

lol no. I don't think you'll find any "bikepacking" bags that can fit a laptop. They simply aren't shaped right for a large flat item. But I'm not sure you'd want a laptop rigidly attached to your frame getting slammed around on chunky singletrack anyways. I know many people have damaged their cameras by doing just that. I think you'd be a lot better off using a backpack for the occasional trip where you need a laptop.

Agree with Lenta - when I was commuting I tried the laptop on a rack and found it too rigid and too harsh.  I ended up using bikepacking bags for clothing and a backpack for just the laptop.  By suspending the laptop on the body, the impacts were lessened and I felt like it was better for the equipment (not data to back up my theory).

Thanks. To clarify, the rare times that I'll bring the laptop is just for a day ride and could be on paved roads.

So far I've thought about putting it in a dry bag and using voile straps to somehow attach it to the handlebars securely.

I found a bikepacking youtube video carrying a laptop on his handlebars with the revelate harness:
