Use the foamy garage door sealer: Electric tape to bars. Orient so that the thicker portion is where your hand will rest. Wrap over the top with your favorite tape.

Or, for the cushiest possible bar tape ever, you could just wrap your bars in garage door sealer!

How thick is that stuff you're using? I found some 12mm neoprene stuff on eBay UK... too thick?

I've always just double wrapped the stache bars on my commuter/ road tourer. What's the difference?

That is about right. Probably 1cm thick at its widest.

Thicker. And in my case, free. I think its cheaper than bar wrap though.

How many wraps of the racket stuff would it take to get the thickness of the sealer foam? What I like about this is great cushioning without lots of expenses and wrapping... I've done double wraps and double wraps over gel pads and so far this is superior.

The Wilson racquet tape is only 1/32" thick and 1" wide. Gonna take a lot to get a proper grip diameter only using this on a bare bar. Probably best to use it over top of something else. It does do great for redoing a racquet and I've considered using it to wrap my bar ends. The stuff is thin, but very cushiony and grippy. A possibly bad thing is that it is made for use with racquet grips, so the overall length of each roll is only 43".
