I have a Scott speedster that I use for commuting and been thinking a while that i should try out some bikepacking.

I don't have the money to invest in a proper bike so my racer will have to do for now.  What kind of equipment do i need to get to make it 3-4 day on the roads?

Things to keep in mind...
Shelter. Stay in motels? Use a bivvy bag and sleeping bag? A tent and sleeping bag?
Food. Need to carry some or are there enough places to stop and get some along the way?

A lightweight backpack is a good start. It will hold food, some clothes, etc...
A seat bag is also a good first investment. A light bivvy bag and sleeping bag can fit in there.
A handlebar bag is also good.

It's all about finding a balance of what you NEED and where you can put it.

Welcome to the site and bikepacking.

I think i will just start off with just a sleeping bag and sleeping in shelters or hostels around my route. When it comes to food i would carry what i need for the day and then restock at a store the next day i think.

How many hostel stays pay for a tent?
TarpTent has tents that weigh less than 2 pounds and take up little space on the bike.
Where are you that you have access to shelters?
Have fun!

I just don't wan't to make huge investment before i know that bikepacking is something for me. I like to bike but never been camping or slept in a tent before.

My first trip will be from my home and i'm located in southern sweden were there is plenty of shelters.
