I want to set up my 29er as a touring machine

My name is Albert I'm from Barcelona,Spain and I use to ride my bike in cross-country marathon races in my country.

But for summer, I'm planning on doing something more calmer, without caring about times or average speeds. Just enjoying landscapes and nature...

I want to do a touring trip, crossing the Spanish Pyrenees from east to west. Starting in Llancà and finishing in Hondarribia. It is a "classic" trip called "La Travesía de los Pirineos en BTT"

I have never did touring before so I have a lot of doubts.

The problem I see is that my bike doesn't have mounting points for luggage racks, just for bottle cages... I have checked some brands like topeak and oldmountain for a solution but I haven't found anything.

My idea is to be self-sufficient except for the food. I would like to carry my own tent (I checked the topeak bikamper, but there's not a 29er version), tools, sleeping bag, thermal blanket and whistle for emergency, camera, ...

I have seen the mounts that hangs from the seat post but... for a carbon frame, are they suitable?

Check out Revelate Designs frame bags. They are well built and pretty reasonable. I have a hard tail 29er carbon frame and with the front handlebar bag, frame bag, gas tank and rear seat bag I can store enough food and gear for 5 days without restocking. I use 4 water bottle mounts clamped to my front suspension fork for water.

I have a carbon frame 29er for bikepacking too. I sewed my own half frame bag, and bought a seat bag and handlebar harness from revelate. It's a great setup. I don't know if it's 100% necessary, but I wrapped electrical tape around my frame where the bags contact it just to protect the finish.

You'll want to get a custom frame bag for that frame as none of Revelate's stock frame bags will fit it.
Get a Revelate seat bag too.

Hey, Albert,

You got the hard part done...getting a bike and wanting to ride : )

Axiom makes a seat collar with attachment points in 27.2, maybe they make one to fit your bike. Also, insulated clamps (cheap at hardware store) can be attached almost anywhere on your frame, available in various sizes. These things are not super burly, but work. They're inexpensive and light enough to carry a spare pair.

Honestly, you don't need any racks. I agree with jeremy et al on the frame bag...there is a huge space there for a bag. Add a seat bag, a dry bag in front, a small backpack, and you'll have enough capacity. A couple of gas tank-style bags and/or a pocket for your dry bag for convenience. No problem, you got it!

If you are wanting a rack over the seat bag option, Thule has a rack that straps to the chain stays without dedicated mounts. It fits virtually any bike, including full suspension. I have one I use with a 26" and 29r. No problems and it's a very sturdy construction and mount up. I strap my bag to the platform rather than use panniers for bikepacking.

For me I also use the rack for commuting (paperwork doesn't fit so well in a seat bag...) and buying a seat bag in addition is more than I want to spend. Otherwise seat bags are great and there are many skilled makers these days.

I just bought a complete set from them and they were AWESOME to deal with!!!
Just used em for 140 miles on the BCT over memorial weekend and they worked flawlessly.
