Hi All, just signed up and didn't find any related threads, so here goes..

I'm quite a fan of Jeff Jones's take on 29ers and I'm hoping to get my hands on a space frame and fork soon. Anyone had any experience of using frame bags with a spaceframe? I can see it cuts down on space but the softer ride is a big appeal. Is his diamond frame a much better overall bet due to the added mainframe space? Or if i was thinking about getting bags made to suit does anyone have any experience of using the above-top tube space to good effect? Just thought i'd see if there was any experience here to be gained from.

The type of riding I want to do is anything from weekend bivi trips to a few weeks out, maybe more if holidays permit. I'm happy bivi-ing with minimal gear and have a good selection of light / minimal kit from road touring on a race bike and mtneering already.

Cheers all,
James

A JJ’s ‘traditional main triangle’ steel frame mated with a large frame bag is the better option and will prove to be more versatile for bikepacking.

That said the JJ space frame, like just about any frame with a smaller main triangle, can be used if you are willing to compromise on the optimal bikepacking loading options.
