Does anybody know where to find "Buffalo Soldier" brand frame packs? I have tried web searches without any luck. Did the company go out of business?

I hope he's not talking about the bags Matthew Lee had in Ride the Divide, but I have a sneaky suspicion he is... If so, that was custom embroidered to commemorate the Buffalo Soldiers of the 25th Infantry (Colored). They were America's first bicycle troops, and also some of the first "bike packers." They did a cross-country ride from Missoula to St. Louis in I believe (but may be wrong) 1885. It's a pretty cool story! "He", in other words, me. (Don't you just hate being referred to in the third person, when you are sitting here reading this stuff?) Yes, that was where I saw them, in "Ride the Divide". Nothing wrong with asking...I thought it was a brand-name. And yes, I am familiar with the Buffalo Soldiers, the bike trip in 1897, and also how they helped save many lives in the massive wildfires of 1910 in Montana and Idaho. "Iron Riders" and "The Big Burn" are both on my bookshelves...and I have read both of them.

Saw the "Buffalo Soldiers" embroidered on Matthew Lee's bag too so my instinct told me that's what you were referring to also. Those may have been Carousel or Revelate but there's a whole bunch of folks making them these days, check out Revelate Designs, Cleaveland Moutaineering, Oveja Negra Threadworks & many others I've forgot to mention, some you will find here looking through old posts on the DIY, frame bags are an AWESOME addition to a bikepacking set-up, good luck!
