Longest time you stashed a bike.

I have a tentative trip that involves a short paddle, three days backpacking across a Wilderness, then bikepacking back to the start. I want to stash the bike just outside the Wilderness boundary. I will lock it to a tree a good distance off the trail out of sight, and throw a camo tarp over it. This particular trail gets a fair amount of use so I have reservations.
I have done this once before, but the stash spot was well off the beaten track along a little used road, and was only for one night. Has anyone hidden a bike for a few days like this? Any problems?

You could always leave a note on it with your plan; that would discourage at least some of your potential problems. Any rangers who came across it would sure appreciate the note.

I stashed a bike along the Colorado trail for 4 days with no problems. I did the same thing, locked it to a tree off the trail outside a wilderness boundary. A note is a good idea, I think, eliminates any questions about it being abandoned.

I agree. I think it would be fine. For sure make a note (laminate it or some how make sure it stay's dry). Good luck. Sounds like a grand adventure. Take pics and post em up!
