The bivy will be used in conjunction with a tarp; however, i would like the ability to use it alone as well on good weather days.

This is what I would like:
Highly breathable with water resistant fabric (It do not want a waterproof one, just one that would hold off dew if i didn't have a tarp.)
Bug net face cover
Zipper entry( or velcro) I want to avoid a draw string design.
Bathtub floor
Light weight 7 oz max
Highly compact able
Thanks
folks

This list might be useful:
http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/reviews/category_display?cid=34&cat=Shelters%20%2D%20Bivy%20Sacks

Some of the models are probably no longer in production but the companies are still in business and have most likely replaced them with updated versions.

I've been looking at bivy's for 2 yrs & reading reviews & I'm still torn, seems none are totally without the negative reviews of condensation unless vented which defeats the purpose for me since I want to use one without a tarp. I hope I come across one to try someday that meets my needs without breaking the bank!

Something to consider is a breathable bivy + tarp. With a little creativity + MYOG you could end up with a nice shelter that's lighter then a full protection waterproof/breathable bivy.

Nothing beats bringing along a fully waterproof tarp, to go with your bivy - just reminded myself I need to make up a system for myself!

Bivvying down in the rain is so no fun and having that tarp can make a horrible night somewhat doable. Even my "Waterproof" bivvy, isn't, but would do well with simply keeping moisture that's on the ground off me and my bag. A waterproof tarp is easy to come by, as you don't to worry about the breathability aspect, when choosing the material, that can help with making that material not astronomical

I've used tent ground clothes for the purpose of a tarp - which I think is just made of sil-nylon, works so-so. Pluses is that I already had it, and it had eyelets for tying down on all 4 corners, already. Just needed to bring some very thin accessory chord and we're good to go. Bring along more cord that absolutely necessary, to make tying down to strange things more doable.

You also have the benefit of being able to replace out parts of this system, if you want to go fancier with your bivvy, or with your tarp. You can get some trés ul tarps made out of cuben if you don't like money in your pocket, or pounds on your bike!
