Mini aero bars??

I totally get the limitations of mini clip on aero bars and the advantages of fully adjustable ones. I really just want to know if anyone has tried the mini style bars? I am mainly interested in getting some bars to use for the Transcontinental Race where I'll be using them primarily as an alternate/resting hand position and they are pretty lightweight compared to most full aero setups.
