I also asked this on the MTBR forums so if you seen it over there sorry for double posting. I am gearing up for my overnighter this saturday. Temps are supposed to be 26-30 degrees at night. I am sleeping under a nylon tarp and will be on a Klymit sleeping pad which will be inside my Borah bivy, with my new 800 down 15 degree bag on top also inside the bivy. The Klymit pad is a static V and only has an R value of 1.3. This has me nervous. I used it on another campout a year and a half ago with similar temps only inside a 2 man pup tent and with a Marmot trestles 30 bag. I don't recall my core being cold that night but my feet froze in socks. Seems like my feet always freeze, even in 45 degree night temps unless I curl up in the fetal postion to get them closer to me.
Do you guys think my setup will be sufficient for these conditions? I sleep warm BTW (with the exception of my feet). Here is a detailed list of my gear: Klymit Static V standard air pad, Eolus 15 degree goose down 800 fill sleeping bag ordered from Hyke and Byke, and a Borah ultralight side zip bivy.
I cannot afford to buy another sleeping pad right now. I just ordered the bivy and the Eolus bag new in the last few weeks so time to slow down the spending lol.

I use a klymit as well, it has nearly 0 R value. The bike packer special reflective windshield sun shade for a couple dollars goes a long way under the klymit and helps provide some good puncture protection. Other options.... is just go with what you've got, you'll know if you're too cold and you'll know for next time to bring more pad. Or borrow something with more R if you can.

I cannot speak to the pad. But here are a few ideas to be a bit warmer. My wife sleeps cold. If you have a stove with you, you can warm some water up and put it in a leak proof bottle. Stuffed at the bottom of your bag does wonders. Also be sure to have a warm clean pair of socks for night. I’ll often stuff any of my extra clothes at the bottom of the bag as well.
