Anybody figure out how to carry a bearvault 500 on their cycle?
I plan to need one in this summer.
I don't know how I am going to carry it yet.
Any ideas?

Fill with stuff and put in 20 liter dry bag.  Strap onto handlebar with sling?

Do you need the can or can you get by with an Ursack?, http://www.ursack.com

Disclosure: I haven't used one and only just learned about it in another thread here.

I would put in my handlebar sling or seriously consider lashing it on a rear rack. That looks like it would eat into my bag space (pun intended) enough that I would need more space than my frame, seat, and handlebar bags can offer, though I am not the lightest packer and I don't like to much weight on my back.

Typed on my phone. Pardon the autocorrect.

I have an Ursack, used it in grizzly country a couple years ago.  It worked pretty well, no bears or critters got into it.  It is a bit of an odd shape to carry but it could probably go in a handlebar bag or a pack.  My friend opted to carry a full size bear can in a fairly large backpack.  It was bulky and heavier but did give him something to sit on in camp.  From what I understand the Ursack is still not approved in all parts of the Sierras National Parks, but you wouldn't be riding a bike in those places anyways.

I sometimes ride an old bike, hide it in the woods, and hike in national parks. Don't want the bear can in my backpack while I am pedaling.
