Tour Divide and Great Divide Race

Nobody seems to mention the Great Divide Race.  Is anyone planning on doing this.  I can't make the start date for the TD but the GDR mass start works.  Just looking to hear what people have to say about the two races, and how the differ (besides the obvious i.e. Banff to roosville section).  Kind of bummed that I won't be able to do the Canada section, but I will get there some other time.

having been to the canmore area in 08 for a 24 hour race and spending alot of coin that summer i was going to do the gdr in 09 because of the usa start. i had a shop lined up in kalispel to ship my bike to and friend of friends to get to roosville but the gdr guys then changed the start to banff and then back to roosville for some reason and i decided to go with the tdr start instead. it would be way cheaper i am sure. no international flight hassles, high food and last minute equipment costs in resort towns and no need to carry (then mail home) a passport, which i never needed even at roosville at what seemed midnight. i remember one guy shipped his bike to cn in 09 and it sat in customs forever, delaying his start a day or so. another potential glitch. after a very expensive 09 attempt because of an injury the only reason i will not be at the gdr start this year is the no cell phone rule. it is a little much for me to handle. i know having my wife and or friends meet me along the way has always been against the rules of both races but after my close call in 09 i want to be able to at least talk to her if/when i need to. if that makes it less of a race and me less of a racer i understand. good luck!
