You can easily make this stove from an old aluminum can and save yourself $25
Works great

If you want to make your own stove, I'd recommend this design for a first.  http://jwbasecamp.com/Articles/SuperCat/index.html
Extremely easy to build and performs almost as well as any of the other designs out there.  These stoves are basically just for boiling water.

There are precautions you need to take when using any alcohol stove - be careful as the flames are invisible in bright sunlight and denatured alcohol is poisonous.

Your interest in alcohol stoves is wise although if you are at all mechanically inclined I would recommend making your own kit. There are tons of resources on the web about stove design and Heineken pots etc. You could save yourself a good deal of money. Plus you get to drink beer in order to complete the stove and pot! What could be better?

Here is a link to some tests I did on my own stove designs.

Also, since I did the tests I have modified my stove design. I found a combination of ease of construction and high performance (for an alcohol stove) that suits my needs. This one boils in about 5 min.  Let me know if you would like instructions to build one.

Thanks for the info everyone!!

I ended up ordering that kit on ebay tho. I looked at others, and this one was sort of in the middle on price (pre-fabbed), and I liked it the best.

I calculated after money and time, I wasn't spending that much more out of pocket. Mostly it was time, as w/2 kids, work, and other obligations I didn't have as much.
