Anyone know if the supposed double power Princeton Tec lights are out yet?

There is an "EOS II" on their site:

http://www.princetontec.com/?q=node/118

But here's the regular EOS stats:

POWER  50 Lumens

LAMP Maxbright LED

BURN TIME 121 Hours

BATTERIES 3 AAA Alkaline or Lithium

WEIGHT 105g

vs the EOS II:

POWER  50 Lumens

LAMP 1 Maxbright LED

BURN TIME 115 Hours

BATTERIES 3 AAA Alkaline or Lithium

WEIGHT 105g

Seems like that's not it.  It looks like it's just a two level brightness EOS, though it was recently released.  Anyone have a scoop?  I'd love to have a more powerful version of the EOS, perhaps making a bar light superfluous.

Yep.  I have it attached to my helmet at all times.

It's all I used on this last bikepacking trip, which had a fair amount of night riding (though we also had a full moon!).

Hoping to get a little more powerful than the current version though.

Are they called EOS II, or something else?  The EOS II doesn't seem to be any brighter, according to the site.

Thanks.

Scott,

That EOS II isn't a new thing nor is it bike specific. If you check out the burn time stuff on it...it merely has a HIGH and LOW setting, rather than three +  a flash mode like the Bike EOS has.

Like you, I'm waiting to hear about the brighter, wider beamed new Bike EOS...I've had an original one after seeing how well Rudi's worked when we were on the GDR. If the new one is a big step up in specs like I've heard, it seems like it could work pretty well for careful/mindful singletrack riding.

Its about the same beam pat as the old one it just spits it out a bit farther.....

its perfect for slow speed single track...  I really love mine...

I keep it on my helmet most of the time cus it doesn't weigh much ect...

Hey Dave,

Do you have old vs. new specs on the EOS? Are the digits listed on the site for the new EOS?

Thanks man,

So the old one is ~25-30 lumens or so?

do you think 2 of these would be sufficient for ANY trip?  A helmet and bar mount?  I might as well get stuff while she's already softened up from all the other gear I've bought.  No since having to break her down again later:)

For any trip where my focus wasn't riding 24/7. Using the lights to get to camp, water, food, lodging....  other wise you would burn through batts kinna quick on anything longer then a few days....

Okay granted I have no first hand experience with this light, but if I were going to do both a handlebar and helmet mounted light of the Princeton Tec types, I'd look at putting the Corona on the bars.  It has a lot more battery life than the EOS and seems to be a wide pattern.  Mount the batteries on the stem or even in your handlebar bag if you're using one any ways.  The EOS on the helmet and Corona on the bar seems like it'd be a good combo.
