I think that would be a great choice. Looks like there's adequate room for a frame bag, although you'd have to use a completely custom one. That bike pedals very well.
They are slightly heavy at 7 lbs for a frame would be the only negative I could see.

I used a 429 on the CTR last year. I thought about the extra weight on the hike-a-bike sections but never when riding. I can not say enough good things about it, laterally stiff, climbs brilliantly, supper fast, etc. You may be able to get a frame bag on it but not a very big one.

Ha, I remember following a certain 429 on the CTR, while descending through some babyhead rocks somewhere around Sergeants mesa. And I can testify it’s a winner in the rocks!
In fact I almost bought one myself and did a long test ride on one on a rocky ST trail in Flagstaff AZ. However for CTR type multi-day stuff I like a slacker HT angle, and softer rear suspension, but that’s just a personal preference, if I was still doing classic XC racing combined with a bit of small hucking the 429 would be in there at the top of my short list!

Mine is a large built up with XT and beefy wheels. Weighs 27lbs. It has a relatively tight geometry and x-country ride. If I rode mostly in the desert I probably would have been interestd in a bike with slacker geometry and more travel like the Lenz.
