Bikepacking in the Sierras?

Hi,

We had a grand route all planned out up in Tahoe, but it looks like heavy snowpack on the trails still. So we're looking for something at lower elevation...perhaps Grass Valley?

I don't know any routes there, but have heard it's great mountain biking.

Any tips greatly appreciated.
