So, I'm looking into a Rohloff hub as a potential option on the bike I'm looking to build for the TDR (2017). Everywhere I look I only see wheelsets. Is there something about the Rohloff hub that necessitates having both a rear and front wheel built, or can I use my existing front wheel and have only the rear wheel built with the Rohloff?

With the hub being as expensive as it is, a custom wheelset would put that whole idea into the "no friggin way" category.

nope. Rear wheel doesn't care what the front wheel is.

There is no reason you can't use your existing front wheel.
