Question for Mac Base Camp users.

Went to look at new laptops today trying to decide between PC and Mac.

The question is if I have a bunch of waypoint files stored on a PC using Garmin MapSouce can I easily transfer them to the Garmin BaseCamp program.

I may be answering my own question in that it seems like it should work as they say both programs use GPX files. But I need to be sure before pulling the plug on a big purchase.

Also any body care to comment on the sense of making the big switch from PC to Mac. Seems like there are some pro's and con's either way.

Tim,
I have a Mac Book Pro and Base camp works fine. The file transfer works the same and is very easy.
You can get Parallels which is a program that allows you to use your PC. Information on your Mac.
So basically you are using all your old programs on your new Mac. As long as you have the Disc
to reload everything the guys at the store can do the transfer. Ask them about the program Parallels
and tell them you would like to keep everything and have the best of both worlds. I do  and it works great!

I have an iMac running OS 10.5.8 and use Basecamp to load .gpx files onto before transferring them to my Garmin eTrex HCX GPS. Works beautifully. Garmin has come a long way to making GPS interfaces more friendly to us Mac folks.

Thanks we haven't pulled the plug yet but it's looking likely we will pick one up soon.

+1 on the mac with basecamp

While I might be as enthusiastic about Garmin's software, it does work as designed on my mac.  I think we nearing 2 year mark with mac + garmin too and no real problems.  I just find the garmin software confusing to use, regardless of platform.
