Hey all Im new to this whole thing and have some questions.
I live in New Orleans and my Bikepacking trips are mostly going to be out of Louisiana. I just got my bike and more gear is on the way.
My main questions is about s and s couplers, Is is possible to get them installed on any bike? I am in a rare position to consider having this done. I guess I just want to know some pro's and cons. I have a Fargo 3 2013
Thanks much

Most places I know of who do S&S conversions (namely Bilenky Cycle Works: http://www.bilenky.com/#!retrofits/c1pg9) only work with steel or titanium bikes. If there's anyone out there who does carbon fiber or aluminum S&S conversions, I'm not aware of them.

Where are you planning to go on your bikepacking trips?

I would say the Fargo is a good candidate.  It will add a tiny bit of weight, but if I had the resources, I would love to have them on my Fargo.  The other thing is that if you aren't going to fly often, it may be cheaper to just pay the fees for flying with a bike rather than do the pricy conversion.

Thanks for the reply y'all. I am planning my first trip to utah/ arizona. Just for a week maybe ten days round trip. I wanna get the feel for all of it in stunning surroundings. After that I want to take this bike into the highlands in guatemala to colombia , ride the circumfirence of New Zealand and take a bunch of advice along the way. I have a seasonal occupation and no matter where I chose to work I want my bike there with me.
Does the frame size matter on the conversion?

HI i have S and S couplers on my Fargo and wished i would have though it out more.  The couplers are fine on any size, except possably a very small size frame.  What you have to think about is how the cables run and where to put the quick disconnects.  In my case i need to have two more cables stops installed to properly utilize the disconnects.  Otherwise i have to loosen up the rear brake anchor bolt and pull the cable loose from there.  Not very practical or quick.  Think about the cable routing and if you need additional cable stops get them when the couplers are installed.
