Support vehicles and the White Rim Trail

A group of 4 of us want to ride the WRT on March 4th. We only have one vehicle (A Lexus SUV) To get us to Utah from Portland. Can we do the loop without support? We haven't decided how many days we will ride the loop yet, but we could use advice in figuring out how much water to bring and whether we could use the SUV to portage water drops to our campgrounds first. Does anyone have experience in riding the trail without support? We are all experienced bikepackers who carry our own gear. But we understand water is not available anywhere along the route. Any advice is welcome thanks!

You need camping permits and reservations to stay overnight on the White Rim and there is a good chance there aren't many available sites in March.  Check the NPS Canyonlands website to see what is open and then update your post with the campsites you hope to use.  That basic info will make it easier for us to help you.  Good luck.

I've been looking at the white rim trail for a year or two, there is one spot (which is conveniently near half way through the loop) that you can get to the river and filter water. I think that sediment is an issue on that part of the river so it might take some planning to use a pot or some other container to let the sediment settle but I've read several trip reports that said it was doable. I think there's also a trip report or two on this site or elsewhere that I found with google that were pretty informative.

You also could look into the possibility of renting a Jeep or UTV for a day to drop water out there for you, might be a fun way to preview the route at the same time.
