Raingear Recommendation?
«
on:

Anyone have a raingear recommendation? Hoping to find something lightweight and easily packable with zippered vents and a few pockets, decent visibility. A plus would have a hood that could go over my helmet.
Thanks for any tips and advice you can recommend.

I personally have little experience bikepacking, but do have experience backpacking and bike commuting in the rain. I like my Marmot Precip-fairly light, and not too pricey, but has pit zips, pockets, etc.
Not a big enough hood for a helmet, thought. You are probably looking at a mountaineering jacket at that point. But...have you ever ridden with a hood over your helmet? In my experience, it becomes a spigot straight from the outdoors to your core because of forward movement.

I use an el cheepo shower cap I put over my helmet when it's raining...works well, easily replaced and gives you full movement of your head vs. that of a hood

I use a Pataguchi No H2O jacket. I have never felt comfortable riding and wearing rain pants. I just got back from an overnighter and it rained most of the time. The jacket did great. I also wore commuter sandals as they are more comfortable than wet shoes.

showers pass. elite is nice. i think they make one with non slip areas if you are planning to carry a pack. their hoods fit over some helmets. i've had good luck with a wool cap and shower cap style helmet cover.
