Anybody have any ideas on getting the Revelate Designs Harness to play nice with On-One Midge bars and Paul Racer brakes.  The front brake is actually run from the right lever and through a steerer tube cable stop.

thanks

Saw this linked on another site for similar reasons, goes below the stem to create space to prevent brake cable rub and act as a bump-stop? Could be drilled for a cable and comes in different sizes. I've used an old / original model Revelate harness with the midge bars, worked ok but couldn't use a wide dry bag roll.

I picked up this Minoura mount for the same problem. It fits in the steerer tube and can be used to keep the bag / harness off cables and away from lights.

Sorry to dredge up an old topic. I just found this post while looking for a solution to my handlebar bag smashing the cables on my drop bar rig. bmike-vt, how is that setup holding up? Is it worth a try? I've only got a few pounds in the handlebar bag, so it doesn't need to be TOO strong.

I tried to use the Minoura for the same purpose, and I couldn't get the set screw tight enough, so the weight of my sweetroll just kept pushing it all the way down against the head tube.

I hadn't tried it yet, but I bet I could set it horizontal (straight out from the steerer tube) and run a strap from it to the handlebar, and the strap would not only hold it at that height, but would also hold the sweetroll away from the bars.

Brilliant. That should solve the problem no matter how tight or loose you can get the screws.

Yeah, honestly I took the Minourao off last week because I have an ECR now, but as I was looking at Mike's pics I saw the solution.

I went with the Minoura as a solution because I was trying to gear up for bikepacking with my only bike at the time...a carbon frame, and didn't really want to try to strap the sweetroll to a carbon head tube, and trying to tape around the odd shaped head tube is challenging.

The Minoura worked fine but doesn't tighten up as much as you'd like. I ended up putting my Marks rack back on and that keeps my Swift randonneuring bag secure or it keeps the harness off the cables / etc.

I built a decaleur for my bag using a different Minoura mount that does tighten up. Here's a pic of the roughed out decaleur that I 3D printed and before I finalized things.
