I want to buy a mountain bike that I'll use mostly on county and township roads for weekend bikepacking and access roads to lakes and class 1-2 streams for pack/bike rafting. Plenty of gravel. Some slow and easy trail riding, but definitely nothing technical, and then just general exercise riding on similar terrain and including paved and hard pack bike paths (although I have a Gary Fisher hybrid for that).
Here's my short feature wish list ...
- Under $750 (I haven't the slightest interest in spending more - really)
- 26er - keepin' it small for packrafting unless there are bikes which can swap out between 26" and larger wheels
- quick release wheels, seat, folding pedals and any other means of breaking down to occasionally put on a very lightweight/slow water packraft
- as light as possible within my budget
I'm not opposed to buying used if it is nearby where I can look at it first. Any advise/suggestions (besides spending more) will be appreciated.
