Ive seen the personal setups on here and it looks like alot of people pack light. My question is if you pack that light amount of gear how is that enough for these east coast west coast trips or other long trips like that do you stop at stores along the way or take a riffle and hunt game and fish for food (which would be awesome and im planning on doing that this year)
THANKS KRUZ

Packing light requires that you: 1. Get used to sleeping in little tiny tents or bivy sacks. 2. Stop frequently at stores and restaurants to buy food, batteries, sunscreen, etc. 3. Get used to your own stench, or stop at laundromats. 4. Maybe stop at the occasional hotel to dry out if you get soaked. 5. Find pleasure in simplicity, not in comfort!

Yes some of us travel light but each one of us has our priorities. The trips that I do I find that I can lose certain gear or go without certain comforts. This may be different for you, what I find essential you may be able to go without. This means your setup can be very different than mine but can still get the job done. I carry enough food to last 3days but I trust in my equipment and carry very little backups. I have friends that ride with BOBs full of gear and their setups outweigh mine by 20lbs but who cares we both get out there.

I have found so far that i can get away with using just my adventure med kit bivy sack for short trips but i have a question regarding my TENT COT made by camp rite if anyone on here has one or has heard of it is there a cheap and easy way to just take that on a trip it is so convineint and assembles in seconds and the rain fly accually works i could just put it on my quad but now that is nothing like bike packing i was concidering making my own homemade bike trailer but im not sure how to go about it

Dude, OMG that would be the best pic ever. I don't think I've ever seen anyone bring a COT on a bikepacking trip. If you do take pics.
Honestly, I don't know how that would even be possible. A tarp can work just as well as a rain fly. What is it about the cot that you like so much? Being off the ground? (hammock), softer? (hammock/2.5 inch pad). Those are about the only 2 things I could think of...Stay away from the bike trailer unless you're doing dirt road touring/double track. Riding true singletrack that thing will become a pain.

I suspect that a tent cot, rifle, and fishing tackle might weigh more than all of my gear combined. Are you bikepacking or homesteading? I definitely want photos too!

You can buy a lot of Subway sandwiches for the amount you will have to spend on non-resident hunting & fishing licenses alone???

Sorry, your first post talked about going coast to coast? You will have to leave PA to do that.
