REI has the Shimano MT33L [
http://www.rei.com/product/811215/shimano-mt33l-bike-shoes-mens] on sale thru Memorial Day for $60. Nice lug sole, but smooth enough to use with toe clips, and mostly mesh/synthetic construction that should dry fast. This lace-up shoe should accommodate feet swelling better than a strapped and buckled shoe. It seems to have more stitching, less glued seams, than X-Alp that REI also has [$100].

Does anyone know of good SPD shoes for hiking and packrafting as well as cycling? ...snip...
