Shoes for Bikepacking

Hello from New Zealand! Can you please tell me what shoes you are all using for Bikepacking?

I tried some Pearl Izumi Alp X's but the squashed my toes, boo!

Is anyone using Lake MX 190's?

My girlfriend and I are heading over to do the GDMBR in August and September.

I use a pair of lightweight hiking boots with lug soles, basically glorified sneakers.  But I usually do as much carrying and pushing as pedaling.  Also parking the bike for a day and doing some sidetrips on foot.  Since the GDMBR is mostly good road regular bike shoes would probably work better.

I have the Lake 190's and really like them especially since they actually fit my wide feet.   The vibram sole is great for hiking.  The only thing I dislike about them is the micro buckle.  Sand and mud can get into the works and make it very difficult to release.  Since I've had the same problems with other ratchet systems in the past, Sidi Dominators, I'd recommend a shoe which uses velcro straps like the Lake MX165 over the 190.

When training and preparing to do the double dare I bought some Lake Mx160's.  Turns out they were a size too big and I now have no use for them.  But they are allegedly good for hiking and biking, but again too big for my feet.  They are practically new, size 9, if you wantem, 35 bucks american, PM ME!
