Anyone have any experience with long distance riding using either the zoic ether or Fox campus shorts? I'm thinking of using these for a tour in Napa, and would like them to be able to work for general biking and future bikepacking.

I've got a pair of Zoic's and love them. Only done a few overnighters, but they've worked very well. The outer shell is very durable and have great waterproof zippers. Held up very great with the Velcro tightening straps as I lost about 7 lbs throught a particularly hot day. You just ratchet them tighter, easy cheesy.

I'm pretty sure I have a pair of the campus shorts. They have an awesome minimalist inner cycling short ...not sure you could wear it without the outer shorts ...not in the southern part of the US anyways.
I prefer to use regular shorts over standard bike shorts. This gives you more options. You can take the outer short off when it gets hot and qui key slip it back on as needed. A kilt might be awesome too because you could remove the bike short without exposing yourself.
