Has anyone found a satisfactory way of fitting a headlamp onto a helmet?

I have seen some petzl helmet clips, but it's hard to see how effective they would be, http://www.completeoutdoors.co.uk/Petzl-E04405-Wide-Brim-Helmet-Lamp-Clips

there is also the petzl adapta system which looks like it has a stick on patch for the front of the helmet, but there isn't much to stick it to on the front of my helmet.

I was looking at buying a petzl tikka xp2, but that's not set in stone, do any other manufacturers have better systems for cycle helmet or handlebar mounting?

cheers
Matt

I have had the best luck with head lamps without remote batteries. I simply remove the elastic strap and use tie-wraps to secure it to the helmet. The lights I've used are light weight enough to reamain on the helmet for an entire trip.

Velcro straps work great.

Zip ties!

Leave 'em unclipped and if you happen to be riding through an old copper mine, they provide a great early warning system before something substantial hits the roof of the mine.   icon_biggrin

http://www.exposurelights.com/product/000040/helmet-bracket/ combined with a high powered flashlight LED flashlight like the Fenix models is simply brilliant.  Best mount I have ever used by far, and it weighs nothing.

I use velcro so that I can take it on and off anytime and not have to use new zip ties. I bought heavy duty wide velcro then spliced it into thin long strips that will go under the inside pads.  Works pretty good.

Personally, I would try to mount it on the top or back-of-the-top of the helmet. That way it's better supported by your neck.
