Looking for a bikepacking route for mid April roughly 14 days that is accessible by airport(s). I live in Virginia and due to various constraints I should eliminate international options. I'm thinking southwest. What would you do and why?

Come to AZ and ride some sweet desert single track. Fly into PHX and get yourself to Picket Post Trail Head the end of the AZT 300. Do a loopish ride that JoeyDurango and I came up with for his fall trip http://www.bikepacking.net/forum/routes/scottm-hjknox-others-southern-azt-looping-options/ The new AZT in the Gila River area is stunning. After completing the AZT Old Pueblo Loop get yourself back to PHX for a motel refresh and then head north on the Flagstone course to the Black Canyon Trail. Ride the BCT as an out and back also a stunning newish trail. The farther north the newer, mostly a BLM project some of the Gila is similar in terms of BLM trail standards. These two rides will give you a great sampling of AZ bikepacking and depending on how you route yourself you can make things harder or easier in a few key places.

Yes, this is good. Southwest it shall be. Although much of my past touring has been solo I have zero experience of perils of Arizona. What can I die from?
