Timbuk2 Sonoma?

Anybody seen/tried the Timbuk2 Sonoma? I stumbled across it today and it looks like a cool smaller seat pack. and not too expensive. I've used their gas tank, the goody bag and it's pretty good, and well built. I also use their seat bags for normal day rides and I've been fairly happy with them too. I'm kind of intrigued to see a more main stream bag maker enter the bikepacking market.

I bought one at the Timbuk2 store in SF yesterday since they we're having a 25% off sale this weekend and it was less than $60. It seems to be a little smaller than some other seat bags, but I think it'll work well for shorter trips on my cyclocross bike. I mounted it briefly but will probably move the straps so the pack is a bit more horizontal. (It's got a few different possible locations for the straps to go through below the pack.

I'm interested to know how this back works out. Does it flop side to side? I read that it doesn t hold weight well AT ALL and flops down onto the rear wheel like a limp ----.

This is true. The strap around the seat post is a little large and the strap from bottom of the bag to the seat is a little too far forward on the bag compared to the custom bag makers, so the bag tends to sag more horizontally as the seat post strap rides up. I solved this sagging problem by running one more small strap that holds the seat post strap down to the seat tube/rear stay junction which keeps the bag at a good angle (see pic). Worked well on my trip last weekend.

I am assuming the open area rolls up toothpaste style to adjust for different load sizes. Could you do me a favour and take a picture of the bag rolled and clipped into it's smallest setting please?

Also, How is it with side to side play? say stand up pedaling /bike rocking for example.

Any updates here? I'm also interested in a closer picture of the extra strap that you added to prevent the sagging and also am interested in if this saddle bag sways a lot. Would love to hear from one of you that has this! Thanks guys!

Hey, I included some pictures for you, the main problem with this bag is the seat clip retention system slides forward when the bag is loaded thus making the bag flop down, I fixed it by sewing the retention system in place, but didn't have the best sewing machine so I had an upholstery shop rivet a plastic piece to keep it in place, works great.

It's a really solid bag when you see it in person, especially at it's price point.
