What are people using to protect their head tubes from handlebar bags? I probably should have done this before I took off all the paint but frankly I don't care all that much. Was thinking some kind of a slippery surface would be best, rather than tape or inner tube that would probably cause friction.

I think I am going to put some clear tape on mine, maybe a few layers.

I found that the head tube badge on my Lynskey was held on with a few screws that wanted to wear a hole in my handlebar harness. So I removed the badge and then put a 5" strip of gorilla tape (1" wide) down the head tube. Works great...doesn't look all that good, but functional. I did try the clear tape thing but I used clear packing tape...horrible results...wore quickly, and really hard to remove.

Helicopter tape is clear and works well.

I'll try to track down some of this helicopter tape.
Kind of surprised there isn't more talk about bar bags and head tubes. My bag took all the paint off my head tube on one 8-day bikepacking trip. I'd like to use my bags on my good bike but not sure it will work at all as I have a really burly head badge that I don't want to remove.

Try cutting up some old bike inner tubes and slide them over the head tube, or duct tape them on to cover the badge; look-cool factor is not important tin the field! Also, perhaps a swatch of hook /pile velcro to cover the head tube...?
