Tools and spare parts

What are some of the tools and spare parts you guys carry?  Say for a super long, very remote thru ride? What multitool do you prefer?  Anyone carry a spare rear derailler?

I'm trying to get a kit together for a long ride in the future, but figure it can't hurt to carry that same kit on local trips. 

Any input is appreciated!

I was checking out the Topeak Alien DX multitool. I like this one because it has a pair of pliers with wire cutters built in and pretty much every other tool there is. Also has a blade.

This Topeak PropShock Pump looks like a great thing to have just in case the air shock goes, it can be turned into an emergency rigid replacement.  Pretty light too compared to other shock pumps.

Spare Der. hanger. There's also this emergency der. hanger from Wheels Manufacturing.


Spare spokes. 

Hypercracker cassette locking remover. 

Spare suspension pivots and bolts, spare stem and seatpost bolts, spare chainring bolts, rotor bolts.

Tube and tire boots. Stans sealant.  C02 for seating bead. 

Shimano plastic tool for removing crank end cap. 

19mm cone wrench...my pivot bolt nuts...   Maybe I'll drill holes in the arm and cut it down for weigh savings.  Maybe custom Aluminum one made? Titanium?

Spare brake pads, der cables. Brake bleed kit? Spare Brake hose and barbs/olives? 

Spare chain links, quick links, pins.

On the CT trip I carried:
- One Kevlar spoke fix.
- two tubes
- Patch kit.
- Crankbrothers 17 function tool.
- Leatherman.
- Raft patches and extra rubber cement (Tire boots)
- Zip-ties
- bailing wire.
-one replacement 4mm bolt, one replacement 5mm.
- A little bit of extra chain.
- extra brake pads and spring (XTR brakes at that time).
- small 2oz bottle of lube. 
Very throughoug checkover before leaving.
That's it. 
Frame is steel, no hanger.
No extra derailleur- figured could hoof it or SS-rig it as necessary. 
No extra cables, same theory.

To add to this thread another question-What special tools/parts did you need?  Did you have it?

I have had  a cassette lockring come loose on friends bike., Luckily we had a tool. My wife once ripped a hose off her brake lever on a local ride. Obviously deralleur hangers bent and chains broken.

Scott had some comments on shock pumps on the review page, he said he would take a shock pump without a gauge again, to bad that propshock doesn't have one, it's a nice idea.
