Hi Everybody,

I'm in the process of getting a rear rack for my Marin Nail trail hardtail. Which of these two would you recommend? I have only heard good things about the Sherpa but the Topeak is a great price (compared to the Sherpa here in Australia).

Also, how does the Topeak mount on the bike? Would it mount to the threaded holes I have on the side of the seat stays?

Thanks in advance for your help

Paul

This is one of those things that you get what you pay for.  I would spend the extra coin and get the OMM.  That being said, I throw a wrench in everything and say that I have 2 friends that have done a 3 day bikepacking trip on rocky trails on a Performance seatpost mount rack and it held just fine.

topeak stuff is not fancy or expensive.  It frequently does what it says it does, (unusual).  My last topeak rack survived being hit by a car, falling from the side of a hill, .. ... etc.  At the end of a 5,000 journey  my stuff was still there.  after the car hit me, I had to stand on it and bend it back, it survived.

maybe I'll find a tubus airy somewhere, hmmm

Thanks for replies, I ended up getting the Topeak rack, $80 compared to $250 (only one supplier of OMM racks over here in Oz) definitely made it an easy decision! Now the plan is to complete the setup for some practice trips before attempting the Tasmania Trail in October Smiley

Cheers
