I personaly have had the best results with wired computers. With the wireless you have too many batteries that can go dead on you. I like the cat eye enduro, I've had one for ten years and it's still going strong.

Wired is probably the safer bet. I went wireless and it did okay. A lot of water this year seemed to find it's way into the lower battery housing and has a few issues later in the race when it was cold or rainy. I had GPS backup so it wasn't too big a deal.

Whatever you do, run TWO mileage counting options (GPS and comp or two comps) unless you're like Matt and have the course memorized Wink

How necessary are computers and GPS for the CTR, and is the Spot mandatory?  I like to minimize electronics, along with their weight and cost.

Not necessary at all. The CTR is well marked. A computer is a good idea in conjunction with the maps or pocket trail book. A GPS is just nice to have along and takes the worry out of sleep deprivation night riding.

SPOTs have not been mandatory in any race thus far.

Shock pump or no? I hardly ever have to put air in my forks but I'm still wondering if I should take one. Or should I just go rigid?

I like rigid but most ran shocks out there. I think a cushy tire is enough for me.

If you get the Lyzene pump I think it does double duty? At least enough to get by?

I'd say if your bringing a shock bring a pump...  i think rigid w a large volume tire is the bomb proof setup
