I am looking to bring my 50lb boxer along on some rides (longer and faster than he can run), eventually working up to doing some bikepacking trips with him, but I can't find any information on a good, stable off-road pet trailer that will fit and have the ground clearance to be hitched to my 29er hard-tail. I am hoping to find one that is made for a 29er, otherwise the bed of the cabin will be at an awkward angle for Maximus.

I am very handy and am willing to modify something, but I wanted to see if anyone else out there has done this. This will be used for 100% off-road riding- dirt roads, fire roads, and non-technical single track.

I like the BOB trailers, but I want to have a fully enclosed compartment available as an option if possible.

Any ideas?

Boy that's gonna be a tough one. I used to take my 40lb border collie along on day rides. Back then I had a rack and milk crate on the bike and she would sit in there and ride when she was tired enough.

I have pulled a BOB some seems like it would be hard to keep the dog in it. All of the 2 wheel trailer options that seem to make sense for a dog would not work well off road.

Good Luck

This is someone I knows touring rig. He takes everything. His trailer may give you some ideas.  http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150158141584467&set=a.10150112952224467.315743.506769466&type=1&theater

Thanks guys! This is the closest so far http://www.burley.com/home/bur/page_455/tailwagon.html, but a Burley rep told me it's not designed for off road and that "there is no kit for a 29er".  Maybe I'll get it, throw some larger wheels on it and do some DIY mods to the hitch... I have to believe that some 29er riders have had a similar towing interest. Holler at me!
