Making a goal of doing the Tour Divide in 2 years, my problem is living in the heartland (Eastern South Dakota) flat. Wondering about training don't a have a lot hills in my area to work with. the Black Hills are about 400 miles away. Any input would be great.

Thanks

Read through last years TDR thread under Ultra Racing.
Tons of info there, but may take a few days to get through it all.
You'll probably hear riding into wind, riding in sand, etc.  Anything that will add resistance or require additional effort.
I have not ridden it but most climbs on the route aren't that steep, but are very long so it's not necessarily about finding the biggest hill, but the longest hill.  There are some steep bits but they are relatively short and will likely require walking anyway.
