Hi everyone,
I'm sorry if this has been covered before but i have searched the forum and can't find the exact answer to my question.
It doesn't help that i'm not great with computers so could do with some help and a simple answer!

So i am on a world tour with my partner at the moment and we plan to do the divide as  the North America part of our tour.
We have a garmin edge 705 gps with us (which is slowly falling apart so might consider a new unit?) with maps of the world on several sd cards.

So we would like to load the 10000 point track and maybe the basemap from the topofusion site onto whichever gps we have when we get there.
We don't have a computer with us so would need to borrow a friends when we get to Canada, do we need the topo fusion software to do this? as not sure if friend would be happy with us installing stuff on their machine.

Many thanks in advance for relpys
Cheers Rob.

You won't need topofusion to install the track file. You should be able to just mount your Garmin up as an external drive,  copy it over to your memory card, and be able to load it up. I didn't need topofusion to install the basemap image file onto my GPS, but I have an 800 and not the 705, so I can't help you with that.

Hi sfuller,
many thanks for the info.
I'm guessing that most garmin units are the same so hopefully it will work for us.

does anyone know if sfullers answer is the same for the etrex 30 as that might be our replacement?

Many thanks again
Rob

That is correct.  You don't need topofusion to get the gps track onto the Etrex 30.  I just plugged it in, copied to the Garmin, and selected the track to be displayed.
