Water bladder in a frame bag

For CTR last year I used a Jans frame pack with 100oz bladder.  To keep the hose under control I used 2 retractable "badge tags", a very small light retractable cord (think fishing line weight).  Worked great, look near the keys sections of the local hardware store.

I am assuming you meant a Jandd bag I was wondering if they were big enough for 100oz. The badge tag sounds similar to the clip that comes with the MSR bladder.

Yep, I think so.  I had to modify it - took the center divider out so it only works for the bladder now.  It is not quite big enough for the full 100oz, maybe about 80?  I always filled it using a water filter and hose adapter and went on pressure.  If it was taught I stopped pumping

Thanks, that's still a lot of water off the back and on the bike and for less money then custom and I should still be able to get at least one if not both water bottles for more. Should be easy enough to figure out how full to get it and then bleed off the extra air and any extra water until it fits.

I'm in line for a frame bag from Eric.  I plan on getting a 2 zipper pack, with one section for a 100oz bladder.  Is the best place for it horizontal right under the top tube?  Does the bladder empty when horizontal?  What about flow? (Insert prostate joke here)

I was thinking about under the top tube, with a slight angle downward toward the seat tube. It's a Cross Check, so the TT is pretty close to horizontal.

I used the 70oz Camelbak bladder in the JANDD frame bag.  When it was full it fit in the bag ok, little bit of a squeeze, but worked good.

Fwiw, back from a 4 day ride, experimented a bit and found that right down the very bottom of the frame bag is best for the bladder. Even on sealed roads, lowering the centre of gravity is noticeable. I wound up with the bladder at the bottom, a normal drink bottle inside the frame bag against the seat tube, and one more drink bottle under the BB. The main problem with the bladder being so low is that the tube might not be long enough to drink from while sitting upright. It takes a bit more suction to get the water up from there, but it's not terrible.

digging this up from the past. have a revelate / salsa bag for my fargo. likely putting in a bladder vertically behind the divider (medium frame). will likely use a zip chord / badge id thing to control the long hose. thinking about getting a quick release i can splice hoses with right at the exit to the frame bag. i have a 70oz platy big zip and a 100oz platy big zip. used to carry empty on my back, for cameling up when 2 bottles on the fork wouldn't make it.

anyone want to chime in with photos, other descriptions of running hose?
