JUST mounted up some worshippers. My sweetroll looks like a bad match. Thinking of using a harness and dry bag. JUST wondering what others are doing Thanks

I have a large Apidura bag that fits nicely into my 42cm Cowbells. It's very close to my hands when in the drops but does not touch. The biggest problems are the cables from my Gevenalle shifters, but it still fits decently.

Ortlieb 7L dry bag with Oveja Negra front harness thingy (Front End Loader). There is enough space between the hoods and ends of the bag for my hands, so it's pretty comfy. I think my Woodchippers are the wide ones (46cm). Can't say enough good things about the Oveja Negra FEL - it's super secure and easy to use. I have a Revelate Pocket that I use in conjunction with that sum'bitch and it works like a cham-peen.

I agree with the OP, I did a big trip on the GAP/C&O from Pitt to DC and the sweetroll seemed like it would work at first but messed with my shifters on my Fuji with drop bars. Plus, to fit the sweetroll inside the drops I couldn't use the whole length of the bag.
I switched to using my Thule Pack 'N Pedal on the front of my Fuji for trips now. I can put more on the rack (don't use panniers) and like having my cockpit free and uncluttered.

I have a Rockgeist Barjam Harness - it uses a handlebar extension to get the harness clear of the cables. You can carry a dry bag of your preferred size in the harness. And an Apogee Harness Feed Bag for incidentals.

Have a Revelate harness on my Woodchippers, however, I don't use a dry bag with it. I pack my tent in that bag and often it gets packed away wet so locking it away all day in a dry bag is not ideal. I do put my sleeping bag in a compression drybag inside that bag though.
Also, use a Revelate handlebar pocket that works nicely with the harness.

I've got the sweetroll, which I use when I'm traveling with my better half, inn to inn, loaded up with clothes. I have to roll it pretty much all the way up to make it fit. Kinda a pain in the rear. One day I forgot to roll it all the way up and I couldn't shift more than one gear at a time because it limited my shift lever throw.
I also have a super minimalist MYOG harness that I got from someone here. I put my sleeping bag in a Sea to Summit XS dry bag, wrap that in my tyvek ground cloth, and strap that into the harness. It stays much narrower, so I never have hand interference issues.
Make sure to get a harness with a front pocket. They are so handy!

second this. Harness is awesome! You can strap your bed at home to that thing lol. Be sure and get the pocket to go with it.
