Great info here..Mike B I like the raft patch idea...I've had some old tire patches/boots for so long and haven't used them, would hate to bring them and not work right. Time to re-supply.

So I did it. I went and bought a Thermarest Neopad. That thing is THICK for 14oz! It'll be awhile until I get to real world test it but holy moly. It looks/feels awesome in the backyard laying down test.

I'm thinking of making a bivy with velco and grommets out of a sheet of Tyvek. That way it will work as a bivy, ground sheet and tarp.

Tyvek sucks in real rain........gets wet & retains some of the H2O...but it is cheap, light, tough etc etc
