Hi,

For a TD custom built Ti running a Rohloff, what is the best option for chain tensioning: EBB vs Horizontal vs Sliding vs Rockers?

I'm looking for a bombproof build with lowest risk of mechanical problems.

Cheers,

I've used horizontal dropouts extensively with a Rohloff and other IGHs. They are mechanically the simplest and offer a stiff rear end so if you want something that has the least chance of failing this seems like a good approach.

If you are buying a new Rohloff for this bike I'd get a bolt on axle version. Easy to adjust tension and once set stays in place securely.

Horizontal is simple and easy to work with. Bit of a pain the butt if you get a flat tire and need to take the wheel out (Hint: run a heavier duty tire)  or to tension your chain as it wears out but you'll get use to it.  100% use a bolt on axle. Mine has never moved once after 4 years of riding.
