Yeah, I thought those were pretty far apart, but I ain't one to make that judgement.  I think I still like the Alaska choice best!  Thanks for accidentally throwing that one out there.  Wink

Only thing is, if you're riding from town, then you are pretty limited if you bore easily.  I take it Prescott's accessibility is a tad better?

Thanks for chiming in!
Oh ya. I went to college in the Fort and my family now lives there. I spent all of October in FC, my blood boiling because the riding in Prescott in October is soooooo much better. I can access 200 miles of lunchtime trail possibilities from my front door.

The once well kept secret that is Prescott riding is no longer a secret, but a "busy" day on the trails might have me passing fewer than a dozen riders ALL DAY LONG. It's pretty sweet here.

Plus, we're seven hours from bikepacking Moab, Southern Colorado, or NM. The lower desert is just an hour away, and we're equal distance to the Sierras or the northern Rockies. Tough to beat. Toss in a quick drive to Baja, a short 90 minutes to a major airport in Phoenix with cheap flights and there's a reason why we've threatened to move away for a solid 14 years.

If you can handle the idea of being in the dirty south, check out Chattanooga, TN. Outside magazine best town of 2015 and it has won before. There are plenty of trails, rock to climb and water to paddle. Good luck.

I've heard Chattanooga's a great place.  The dirty south doesn't bother me one bit, actually... I mean, you were talking about Drive By Truckers album, right?  No, just kidding.  Humidity and bugs really don't irritate me too much, but maybe I've changed after living in the high desert for several years now.

I'm still in the Fort for now.  My wife loves it here, and there's a lot to be said for that alone.  However, I'm still searching, and I've opened my horizons to pretty much any place where I can readily do what you've mentioned, wiese - climbing(trad, sport, & bouldering), paddling, and of course, riding.  My real only requisite is that there is water and mountains.  The rest will happen naturally with like-minded people and an adventurous attitude.

Thanks for your suggestion!
