Allegheny Mtn trail

A friend and I tried to do a trip on sat 9-1-12 - Sun 9-2-12 on the AMT . We left from onego WV rode to the trail head off whites run road and headed southbound . The trail was good and somewhat easy to follow, until we got about 6 miles and the trail took a left into the woods. We could find the markings and a cairn but no trail . We searched up and down the marked trail and the old logging road that we were on for 2 hrs . Eventually it got late and we just followed the old logging Road downhill away from the senaca creek valley. We decended about 1500 into the upper gulf run creek until 7:30pm then found a flat spot and camped. We had a great camping spot and a great evening it not anywhere close to where we wanted . In the morning we carried and pushed our bikes down the creek about 1.25 miles until we hit the whites run road , we then just rode the6 miles to the car . We had a good trip 20 miles of single track and roads but it was a real bummer we could not find the rest of the AMT . If anyone has any experience with this trail maybe I could get some trail info
