I'm looking to create a great bikepacking loop through the Eastern Sierras of California. I live in Mammoth, and we have amazing terrain and gorgeous scenery throughout. Hikers have the John Muir trail and the PCT- we need a mountain biking adventure as grand! I'm starting to string together some gps tracks, and if anybody has any input, experience, etc with trips in and around Lone Pine, Big Pine, Bishop, Mammoth, June, Mono Lake, White Mountains, Glass mountains, etc... I could sure use the help... Thanks!

Thanks, AZTripper- I wasn't aware of that thread. Slightly different area, but could be cool to combine the tahoe rim possibly... Hmmm...

I am going to be in your area from the last Thursday in July through the following week. I will be camping with a group that is mostly interested in flyfishing but I will be bringing my Fargo and riding as much as possible. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'm going to keep an eye on this. I've been planning to head up there and link some rides together. I've done some moto rides out of Bishop that would be good for Bikepacking. Lots of climbing though. One route is up Silver Canyon to the White Mountains. Another is up to Coyote Flat. Out of Lee Vining up to Kavanaugh Ridge is another good one. I have some pics here. http://errinv.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/Sierras-July-08-Errin-Pics/5526524_5UPrW#338348916_kvr5nThis is Coyote Flat above Bishop.

I just got back from 10 days in the mammoth area. Great riding and great camping. I even took my Fargo down the ski hill a couple of times with only one endo and a few bruises. I am sure the crash was due to my laughing so hard. An absolutely great place to ride.
