Hey there, I'm planning a ride from New Mexico to Joshua Tree NP in March and just got a Benchmark Road Atlas for CA and NM in the mail. I'm waiting for AZ. So, looking at the route in reverse quickly, I found the Bradshaw (Gold Road) Trail near the Salton Sea and from the quick search I see it's popular for jeeps, etc. and also that it borders the Chocolate Mountain Bombing Range! I haven't found any ride reports from cyclists, so I'm just curious if that's because it's not a good ride? So moving along thru the southern half of AZ and NM, are there any roads anyone could tell me that are just not cool? I'm riding a 27.5+ bike with drop bars an 3" tires Thanks!
