I recently spent three weeks riding from Mission, British Columbia, to Bella Coola on forest service roads, 4x4 tracks, and horse trails. I discovered the most beautiful part of the world I've ever been to. I saw some of Canada's most impressive mountains - Mount Waddington, Queen Bess, and Ts'yl?os. I feasted on berries and was kept up all night by grizzlies. I saw more lakes than cars. I can't recommend this trip enough. To travel through such wilderness on a bicycle (which are mostly limited to established roads and trails) is a rare treat.

But it was still lots of Type 1 fun, without any of the bad things that usually go with cycle touring (motorized traffic). Stay tuned for Part 2.
