Let's assume that I will be strong enough to spent 3 weeks biking in Colorado. I would like to do CTR in about 8-10 days and then I will need to go back to Denver somehow. I prefer to go back riding a bike, so please help me create a route which will be easier then CT but also going through some trails with singletracks if possible or through fire roads.

Hi Pawel,
That's a great idea. Alas, it's also a pretty tall order. That part of Colorado is huge. There are probably dozens of people who could help you navigate different sections of the proposed route, but I doubt that there many folks (if any?) who have intimate knowledge of the entire area. Considering that it took decades for one extremely motivated woman (Gudy Gaskill), a foundation (The Colorado Trail Foundation), and a multitude of government agencies to establish the Colorado Trail, I expect that defining a similar "parallel" ride would be a daunting task.
That said, a "return loop" might be possible. Powered by local knowledge, Google Earth, TopFusion, and luck, I imagine that there are enough random paved roads, trails, Jeep tracks, fire roads, etc. to put it together. And how cool would that be? A CT Loop! Seems like something for the likes of a dedicated explorer like Dave Harris (if he can be convinced to move to Colorado) or somebody else with a lot of time, navigational talent, and motivation.
If you're really committed to riding back to Denver this summer, you could certainly do so via well-marked paved roads. Just be careful--some Colorado mountain roads can be pretty narrow and the traffic is often fast.
Cheers, Toby

Hi Toby,
Thank you for the explanation. It is a huge project, indeed. I am worry about traffic in mountain paved roads so I am planning to use only necessary connections. I have prepared some gpx track but I have no idea if it is rideable...

Hi Pawel,
Maybe you should post the GPX file online? With luck, locals who are familiar with various sections might take a look at it and give you some useful feedback. If I have time before the race, I might even go scout a section or two for you.
I think that it's really cool that you're doing this. I love the idea of a guy from Poland completing the first "CTR Loop."
Cheers, Toby
edit: Oops, I missed it. You did attach a GPX. I'll download it now and take a peek!

No problem. As I said before...you're more than welcome to stay at my house and I can transport you to the airport OR we can look into a way to change the route to get you back to Waterton Canyon area.

Hi, I am heading back from Salida to Denver after bailing off the route. I'm looking for a decent road route (Absolute Bikes throwing some cx tires on my SIR9). I don't have a computer, just my Droid, so can't check out your gpx files. If anyone wants to email me a quick route suggestion to avoid 285 I would really appreciate it! Thanks
