Denver/Colorado Springs Winter Session

Looking for anyone who's done gravel roads with an overnight somewhere on the south end of the metro. Would like to take advantage of the next warm spell and get out there, but finding it difficult to find a good place to pause for an overnighter (without being on private land or otherwise exposed). Anyone know a place that would lend itself to such things? Would be great to keep up the fitness and get some S24O's even if a bit chilly. Would welcome anyone who's interested to tag along, too. I'm just north of Larkspur.

There has to be a lot of areas just west of you. All through Rampart Range area and dropping down around Pikes peak area.
Ring the peak loop? Might be too high, maybe not.

Ring the peak definitely gets snowed in. I worked at a camp on the west side for a summer, and portions of the trail were under a couple feet of snow in late May a couple years back. That portion of the trail is around 10000 feet. Idk about the east side, though.

There are a lot of great options between and including Rampart Range road and Lost Creek Wilderness.  A starting point would be to look at the old Bailey Hundo course. http://www.bailey100.com/hundo-course.html  It did stuff in Buffalo Creek and then hit the back roads through South Platte, Deckers, and Wellington Lake.  You could add and subtract as you see fit.  You could also include Goose Creek Road, Stony Pass, CO126 (Not gravel) , HWY 67.  The gravel roads link above is pretty useful.
