anyone got info on the MDH 'duece' new southern section?

couple other MDH related questions - if i was to do half the trail as an out-and-back would it be best to start at the north end, the south end, or the middle?

and, what is the best time of year for the trail?

thanks all!!

I rode it this August. Hot and dry. But good. Sept might be better. Find out when hunting season is and DON'T go then. If you start south and go north, you can get a big day in and see some really nice country. I rode the last 28 miles In 2 1/2 hours. The northern end is in the middle of nowhere. The southern end you have Medora, food beer and hot water.

Hard to say, what part you should ride. If split entire route on two, both parts are different. Depends if you ride loaded or just with water and cliff bars. I second that southern most 30 miles are very quick ride. Northern half less ridden but offer absolutely different landscape and experience.
For true off-road and physical challenge ride Northern part. For fast miles go Southern part. But better to do the whole thing, of course.
And don't forget to check water level in Little Missouri before starting your trip. Current is fairly strong even when knee-deep. Otherwise you'll have to put extra miles to cross it over bridge.
Good luck on your trip and post pics with report for us to read Smiley
