Warning: Total newbie with gpx stuff...thanks in advance for your patience.

I put one of the CTR GPX files into a GPX editor (it's called GPX Editor and it is from SourceForge) and saw that I could view all of the points as a list.
When I did that, I saw that one of the columns was "cmt" or comment.
This has great info such as "stream" "route split" etc.
Does anyone know if there is a way to access this info via the screen of a garmin etrex?

My original goal was to see if I could add icons (or something) to the GPX file so that I could get additional info on the etrex screen without having to stop and open up the CT Data book.

Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.

Mike

When I mark waypoints, I use a simple code to indicate what I'm marking,
xxx = a sequential number,
Pxxx = parking
Sxxx= spring
Ixxx = intersection
CSxxx=Convenience Store
Wxxx=Surface water source
Vxxx = Scenic View

etc.
